Vital Albert was born in 1975 in the valley of the Artibonite.

At 14, he began studying with Saincilus Ismael, the founder of The School of the Artibonite and grand master of the icons. This was the turning point for Vital as began to exhibit a sense of control over his drawing and painting

In 1993 his father registered his birth certificate name as Vital Setalaire Albert and he began painting under this name. Around that time he made a drastic style change in his work while spending several months working in the same studio as Calixte Preserve

Vital has shown in numerous group shows and currently resides in the capital
